U10

Overview

MSRC’s U10 and U7 program incorporate Alpine Canada’s (ACA) Snow Stars Levels 1 to 4 and the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association’s (CFSA) Jumps and Bumps program.

Ages

  • U7 - 2015 through 2016 (athletes must be 5 no later than December 31, 2021).
  • Proof of birthday is required for all new members.

Ability

  • able to use the lifts (T-bar and/or Chairlift) independently,
  • ski top to bottom
  • be away from their parents for the duration of the training session. 


Should you have concerns with your child's skills, please identify this to a member of the coaching staff or executive in advance.  We will work with you and your child to achieve this goal early in the season.  Should you wish to take advantage of a private one-on-one lesson to prepare for the season, you can arrange this through Ski Martock here:  http://www.martock.com/first-timer/private-lessons/

Lift Pass

  • Program fees do not include the cost of a lift pass.
  • Lift passes are available directly from Ski Martock and can be purchased online.

Equipment

  • appropriate clothing for weather conditions
  • CSA certified ski helmet 
  • skis
  • Additional information session will be held in the fall to review equipment needs of this program

Alpine Ski Nova Scotia / Alpine Canada Membership Fee (Mandatory Insurance)

  • All U10 skiers are subject to a ASNS / ACA membership is included with your club registration. 
  • This fee covers your competitor association with the club, your competitors’ license and mandatory general liability insurance with Alpine Canada (ACA). 

MSRC Program Fee

There are 3 Programs for U10. 

  • U7 (2015-2016)  Developmental Level Program  2 days Saturday/Sunday on snow training times (no dryland training for athletes in this program group) 
  • Development Level Program (2012, 2013, 2014)  2 days Saturday/Sunday on snow training times (no dryland training for athletes in this program group).
  • Performance Level Program (2012, 2013, 2014)  3 days Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday (dryland training Sundays Martock and Wednesdays evenings in Halifax or Wolfville) 


The U8 Developmental Program is eligible for all athletes born between 2015 and 2016.

  • For athletes born in 2015 and 2016, the program will offer three (3) hours of training on Saturdays and Sunday mornings.  It is planned for 9:00am - 12:00pm. Exact timing will be confirmed prior to the start of the season.
  • For athletes born between 2012-2014, the program will offer four (4) hours of training on Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning at 9:00am.

The Preformance Program will be for athletes born in 2012 and 2013 who are interested in racing and want more time training. The U10 Performance program will train together and at the same time as U10 on the weekends, but will also train on Wednesday night from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.  The focus of this program is development plus preparation for the U12 and up race program.

Developmental Program 2 Days (January 2, 2022 - March 21, 2022) – $680.00

  • Weekend Training at Martock (2 days Saturday/Sunday) on snow training times.  
  • Event Registration and Participation in the Martock Annual Race (Giant Slalom and Ski Cross)
  • U10 Athlete/Parent Information Sessions (Fall of 2021)
  • MSRC Web Series events (Fall of 2021)
  • No Dryland Training

Performance Program 3 Days (September 19, 2021 - March 24, 2021) – $850.00

  • 3 Days of Training (Sat, Sun- starting January 2nd, 9:00am)
  • Wednesday Night Training at Martock (6:00pm - 9:00pm is only for Preformance Athelets Only) 
  • Event Registration and Participation in the Martock Annual Race (Giant Slalom and Ski Cross)
  • U10 Athlete/Parent Information Sessions (Fall of 2021, information to be provided on the website and email)
  • MSRC Web Series events (Fall of 2021, information to be provided on the website and email)
  • Dryland Training is included in the  3 day U10 Performance program this season.  (Dryland training Sundays Martock and Wednesdays evenings in Halifax or Wolfville) 

Breaks are included in training times. We encourage athletes to attend as many sessions as possible. However, it is not mandatory for your child to attend all days in the schedule.  It is much appreciated if you let your coach know in advance if you will miss a training session.

Additional events / training opportunities planned for 2021/2022 are available to all athletes on a user pay per basis.  Details on MSRC events (race opportunities, Camps will be provided on the website and by email).
