Sport Athlete Insurance Program
For FIS and non-FIS athletes, Alpine Canada Alpin offers Sport Accident Insurance and in some cases it is mandatory for athletes to purchase.
There are 2 types of insurance – Special Risk Accident and Out of Province/Out of Country Emergency Medical. The class of insurance offered depends largely on the length of stay and number of trips.
Class 1: between 30-60 consecutive days away out of country, reset upon return to Canada,
Class 2: less than 30 consecutive days away out of country, reset upon return to Canada,
Class 4: max of 7 day duration in US only for 1 single trip – can only be purchased once
Class 5: max of 14 day duration in US only for 1 single trip – can only be purchased once
Class 1,2,4,5 includes both Special Risk Accident and Out of Province/Country Emergency Medical
Class 3 is just Special Risk Accident – recommended for travel to other provinces
Purchase of SAIP is mandatory for travel outside Canada EXCEPT for Atlantic clubs training at a pre-determined training location. Since MSRC has no training planned in the US, any travel for training or racing (ie U14 CanAms) will require the purchase of SAIP.
